THE CADENCE OF FAITH Big Idea: Faith that grows in the wilderness. It doesn’t fade — it finishes.
Text: Numbers 13–14 / Joshua 14:6–12 Question: Have you ever believed God for something so long that it almost started to sound impossible? Biblical Examples of Waiting: Abraham: waited 25 years for Isaac. Joseph: waited 13 years to go from prisoner to prime minister. Noah: built 120 years before the flood came. Principle: Long-term obedience leads to right-time deliverance. → God moves at two speeds: slowly, then suddenly. THE STRUGGLE: Most of us believe in God but struggle with His timing. We want the promise without the process. But faith isn’t about how fast you move — it’s about how long you’ll keep marching. CALEB He Had a Different Spirit Numbers 14:24 — “My servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows Me wholeheartedly.” While others gave up, he grew up. While others wandered, he walked faithfully. He didn’t get bitter — he got better. He didn’t let others’ unbelief become his ceiling. Truth: A different spirit refuses to echo doubt; it carries the aroma of faith. He Carried the Fire of Promise Joshua 14:10-12 — “I am still as strong today as I was then… Give me this mountain!” He never lost his hunger for God’s promise. The years didn’t dull his faith — they deepened it. He wasn’t living off yesterday’s manna — he was marching toward tomorrow’s mountain. Illustration: Colonel Sanders — at 65, knocked on 1,009 doors before success.
Quote: “A man with a made-up mind is a powerful thing.” — Col. Sanders Science: Purpose keeps the brain alive (Dr. Viktor Frankl). He Stayed in Step with God’s Leadership Caleb didn’t run ahead of God or lag behind — he stayed in step. He served under Moses, then Joshua, and followed the Lord’s lead. “If the Lord is with me, I will drive them out just as He said.” APPLICATION
What mountain did God promise you years ago? Maybe a dream you’ve buried, a prayer you’ve paused, or a vision you’ve delayed. Your mountain hasn’t expired — the delay is development. Faith doesn’t just wait; it prepares while it waits.
Say aloud: “I’m not done believing. I’m not done climbing. Give me my mountain.” This Week: Write one mountain that’s staring at you. Find a Scripture that speaks to it. Place it where you’ll see it daily. Take one faith step — forgive, call, serve, give, pray. Don’t wait for the mountain to move — move in faith first. Faith doesn’t stop when it’s hard — Faith begins when it’s impossible.
