Week 2 – Moving Forward
Key Point: Faith doesn’t wait for clarity. It steps forward in obedience.
Joshua 3:13
And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be cut off… and they shall stand upon an heap.
- God often reveals the miracle after the step of obedience.
Joshua 3:15–16 …and as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests… were dipped in the brim of the water… the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an heap…
Hebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.
2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight.
Faith is not passive belief. Faith is obedient movement toward God.
- Delay keeps us stuck between promise and possession.
Joshua 1:2 Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them.
James 2:17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
Proverbs 3:5–6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
God directs moving people, not parked people.
- Courage grows when obedience becomes visible.
Joshua 3:17 And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all Israel passed over on dry ground.
Psalm 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.
Matthew 14:29 And Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus.
When one person steps in faith, others find courage to follow.
Reflection
What step of obedience have you delayed because you wanted certainty first?
Where might God be asking you to move forward this week?
Quote
“Only he who believes is obedient, and only he who is obedient believes.” — Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Prayer
Lord, give us the courage to step forward in faith even when we cannot see the whole path. Teach us to trust Your presence more than our understanding. Help us move forward in obedience so that Your power can be revealed through our lives. Amen.
