Honor: To show respect, value, or esteem for someone or something. No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward for what he gave

LAST WEEK: HONOR CHALLENGING LEADERS
- If an authority requires you to do what God forbids, it is your responsibility to disobey – in a way that shows honor to the authority.
HONORING YOURSELF
PETER J DANIELS
International Business Statesman
You don’t feel like you belong here. You see everyone else as important, successful, and you’re just a last minute invitation.
DON’T DISHONOR WHO I CREATED AND WHAT I CALLED YOU TO…
I brought you here to teach you this: I SEE YOU LIKE YOU SEE EVERYONE ELSE. YOU HAVE VALUE, YOU HAVE WORTH, YOU HAVE SIGNIFICANCE. YOU WERE CREATED IN MY IMAGE AFTER MY LIKENESS. LIVE LIKE IT.
EVERYTHING you need… I have already placed within you.

HONORING YOURSELF IS TO RECOGNIZE THESE TRUTHS AND LIVE AS IF THEY ARE TRUE!
HONOR YOURSELF
THE SOONER YOU SEE WHAT HE SEES AND SAYS ABOUT YOU, THE QUICKER YOU WILL BEGIN TO HONOR YOURSELF.
TO SHOW HONOR TO YOURSELF IS NOT ABOUT PRIDE OR SELFISHNESS. When you see yourself as He sees you…
• care for yourself as His temple
• set boundaries to protect your heart
• bring glory to God in all things and live out His purpose.
JESUS DID NOT SEEK HONOR
John 8:50, "I am not seeking honor for myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge."
Jesus' role as HIGH PRIEST was not self-appointed.
Hebrews 5:4-5 "And no one takes this honor on himself, but he receives it when called by God, just as Aaron was. So also Christ did not glorify Himself to become High Priest, but it was He who said to Him: 'You are My Son, today I have honored You.'"
THE PROVERBS 31 WOMAN
Prov 31:25-31 - SHE TAKES CARE OF HER HOUSEHOLD, works diligently, but also…
CARE FOR HERSELF - “She girds herself with strength and makes her arms strong” (Proverbs 31:17).
PAUL EMBRACED HIS NEW IDENTITY AND WORTH
BEFORE, he was a murderer and persecutor of the church. AFTER his conversion, He saw himself as God’s workmanship.
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works” (Ephesians 2:10).
MY PRAYER THIS YEAR:
LEAD AND CREATE A CULTURE OF HONOR (church, home,)
• SPEAKING WORDS OF RESPECT AND ENCOURAGEMENT.
• SERVING OTHERS WITH HUMILITY.
• CHOOSING TO HONOR EVEN WHEN IT’S DIFFICULT.
• FORGIVE THOSE WHO DISHONORED US.
HONOR THE LORDS TABLE
1 CORINTHIANS 11:23-26
For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself. That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died. But if we judged ourselves truly, we would not be judged.
