Week 1 – Prioritize
Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.
Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Key Point 1: If you want to know what you value, look at what you DO, not what you think or feel.
Genesis 4:3-7 In the course of time Cain brought to the LORD an offering of the fruit of the ground, and Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat portions. And the LORD had regard for Abel and his offering, but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So Cain was very angry, and his face fell. The LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it.”
Matthew 6:31-33 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Key Point 2: The Kingdom of God is God’s order. It’s how we live in harmony with the seen and unseen realities of life.
Key Point 3: Something always has to be sacrificed to make sure our priorities are in line with God’s priorities.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave [sacrificed] his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
