Week 1 – Starting Again Key Point: You can’t start over. But you can start again with what you already have.
Ecclesiastes 3:9-14 What do workers gain from their toil? I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God. I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.
-
Conceptual Innovators “Young Geniuses” • Make radical breakthroughs early in life • Work from clear ideas, theories, or concepts • Often produce a single defining masterpiece • Value bold innovation over refinement • Disrupt traditions rather than perfect them
-
Experimental Innovators “Old Masters” • Improve slowly and incrementally • Learn through trial, error, and lived experience • Peak late in life • Produce their greatest work after decades of practice • Are rarely satisfied; their work evolves continuously
Philippians 3:12-16 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. Only let us hold true to what we have attained.
