Overflow: Week 3 Good Vibes (The Secret Key to Evangelism)
2 Corinthians 2:14-17 But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere. For we are the aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing, to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things? For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God’s word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ.
“It is no use walking anywhere to preach unless our walking is our preaching.” – Francis of Assisi
Matthew 5:14-16 You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Key Point: Shine first, speak later—Light is the better persuader.
Albert Mehrabian’s 7–38–55 Rule: • 7% of meaning comes from words • 38% from tone of voice • 55% from facial expression/body language *But this applies only in situations where there is emotional content and the signals are contradictory—e.g., when someone says “I’m fine” but looks upset. Conclusion: When words and non-verbal cues conflict, people trust the non-verbal cues.
Luke 6:45A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
