Title: “MIRROR CHECK.”
James 1:21-27Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless.
Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.
QUESTION: What do I really see when I look into God’s Word —and what do I do with it?
THE BATTLEFIELD MIRROR
POINT 1: LET THE WORD GET IN YOU “receive with meekness the implanted Word.”
DON’T JUST READ THE WORD—LET IT READ YOU. Principle - This Word doesn’t exist to inform you—it exists to transform you.
Practical Application: If you want to be spiritually strong, start soaking before you start striving.
POINT 2: LET THE WORD GET OUT OF YOU
OBEDIENCE IS WHAT TURNS FAITH INTO FRUIT.
A CLEAN HEART SHOWS UP WITH DIRTY HANDS. Real faith wears boots, not just beliefs.
Principle: The world doesn’t need more religious talkers. It needs faith walkers.
“THE FATHER AT THE MIRROR”
FINAL CHARGE • Don’t just glance at the mirror—live what you see. • Don’t just admire the Word—obey it. • Don’t just talk religion—live with compassion. • Don’t just memorize verses—become one others can read.
OUR VETERANS WORE THEIR UNIFORM WITH HONOR. LET’S WEAR THE WORD WITH ACTION.
