Title: WISE GUYS: DADS WHO ASK GOD FOR HELP”
WISE GUY DADS WHO ASK GOD FOR HELP
THE HEART THAT KNEELS FOR WISDOM STANDS WITH STRENGTH.
JAMES 1:5-8
“To pray for wisdom is to invite God’s thoughts into your situation.” Charles Stanley
JAMES 1:2-8 2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,… If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
- GO TO GOD ASKING GOD FOR WISDOM IS NOT A LAST RESORT; IT’S A FIRST RESPONSE.
Asking for help isn’t WEAKNESS. It’s WISDOM in Action.
- TRUST HIS TRACK RECORD Let him ask God…who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
“Not one word has failed of all His good promise.” — 1 Kings 8:56
“Bless the Lord… and forget not all His benefits.” — Ps 103:2
Principle: Reflection fuels trust. Forgetfulness fuels fear.
BUILD YOUR FAITH ON YESTERDAYS EVIDENCE
THINK SARAH Heb 11:11 By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised.
WE TEND TO FORGET WHAT WE NEED TO REMEMBER AND REMEMBER WHAT WE NEED TO FORGET.
“I have been young, and now am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken…” — Psalm 37:25
“HIS PAST FAITHFULNESS IS MY FUTURE CONFIDENCE.”
FAITH ISN’T THE ABSENCE OF QUESTIONS; IT’S TRUSTING GOD IN THE MIDDLE OF THEM.
THE HEART THAT KNEELS FOR WISDOM STANDS WITH STRENGTH.
GOD IS NOT WAITING FOR YOU TO IMPRESS HIM; HE’S WAITING FOR YOU TO INVITE HIM
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN LIFE DEMANDS MORE THAN YOU HAVE TO GIVE?
- GO TO GOD FIRST
- TRUST HIS TRACK RECORD
“You don’t have to be a superman to be a strong dad — just a surrendered man.”
“The Empty Chair”
WISDOM ISN'T FOUND IN HAVING ALL THE ANSWERS —IT'S FOUND IN ASKING THE RIGHT PERSON.
Dads, what if your kids remember your life not for your perfection, but for your prayers? What if the legacy you leave is not your success, but your surrender.
