Summer Of Joy
What's Your Why?
This summer we are taking the time to read the book of Phillipians, also known as the book “The Book Of Joy”. Philippians was written by the apostle Paul from a prison cell which is kind of ironic because he's trying to show us that you can be in the middle of what seems like a prison but joy doesn't have anything to do with what's going on around you. Joy starts in you and you can find joy and peace and confidence in the Lord no matter what's going on around you.

Summer of Joy (Week 5)
What’s Your Why?
Philippians 1:21-26
For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, so that through my being with you again your boasting in Christ Jesus will abound on account of me.
Key Point: If you aren’t motivated by a purpose bigger than yourself, you’ll give up when life gets hard.
Key Point: Start with the end in mind.
Matthew 6:31-33
So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
1 Corinthians 15:17-19
And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in Christ we have hope in this life only, we are of all people most to be pitied.

PRAY IT OUT
Father, I pray that we lean on You to guide us on the path that You have made for us. I pray that we realize what our why is and that we get a sense of purpose that is greater than ourselves. I pray that we focus on the goal and that You help us stay faithful in our walk. We thank You for everything that You do and that You keep us accountable for our actions. That You hold us accountable to show others that we love them by loving them the way You love us. Help us walk in Your way, we pray this all in Your name, Amen.
