Summer Of Joy
Working Out Your Salvation
This summer we are taking the time to read the book of Phillipians, also known as the book “The Book Of Joy”. Philippians was written by the apostle Paul from a prison cell which is kind of ironic because he's trying to show us that you can be in the middle of what seems like a prison but joy doesn't have anything to do with what's going on around you. Joy starts in you and you can find joy and peace and confidence in the Lord no matter what's going on around you.

SUMMER OF JOY
It’s not enough to BELIEVE in Him; We must press in and begin BEHAVING like Him
Philippians 2:12-13 12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
14 Do all things without complaining and disputing, 15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.
17 Yes, and if I am being poured out as a drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. 18 For the same reason you also be glad and rejoice with me.
THEREFORE
work out your own salvation with fear and trembling
#1 QUESTION OF CHRISTIANS:
How do I know Gods Will?
JESUS PROVIDED…. 1. His LOVE – give us value 2. His GRACE – empowers us for service 3. His SPIRIT – guides & leads US to His perfect will.
work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
JOEL MALM
We never arrive in this life (we are constantly managing the tension)
PAULS LEADING: • Lk 1:3 – “seemed good to me to write an orderly account…” • Acts 15:28 – seemed good to me not create a list of restrictions for the new believers… • Acts 15:34 – It seemed good for Silas to remain in Antioch while
WHEN GOD WANTS TO ACCOMPLISH HIS WILL ON EARTH, GOD GIVES BIRTH TO VISION
“without a VISION, people run wild!” – Prov 29:18
A BEAUTIFUL PICTURE
1) GOD DOES THE WORK of Salvation
2) GOD SUPPLIES YOUR WILLINGNESS & DESIRE
3) GOD EMPOWERS YOU TO FULFILL THE Desire.
4) GODS PURPOSE IS FULFILLED.
GOD WORKS IN YOU = YOUR SPIRIT
YOU ARE A SPIRIT YOU HAVE A SOUL YOU LIVE IN THIS BODY
when your FEELING turns into a KNOWING is when you KNOW
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR SPIRIT?
• PUT THE WORD OF GOD FIRST
• MEDITATE ON IT – DON’T READ IT, LET IT READ YOU
• INSTANTLY OBEY THE VOICE OF YOUR SPIRIT
HEBREWS 4:12 - "The Word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart." The word of God divides between soul and spirit
I JOHN 2:20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.
TAKE HOME:
1. THIS SUMMER – Give the Word first place.
2. Instantly OBEY the voice of your spirit.
GOD is responsible for the consequences of our OBEDIENCE. WE are responsible for the consequences of our DISOBEDIENCE.

TALK IT OVER NOTES
In everything, give thanks!
Q1) Do you know God’s will?
Philippians 2:12-13
We have no idea what a simple yes of obedience will do not only for us, but for the others around us.
It is important for us to have active obedience, just say yes.
Q2) Do you have active obedience?
What Jesus was to His disciples, is what the Holy Spirit is to us as we navigate here on this earth.
If Jesus had to learn obedience… then so do we
Jesus provided:
– His LOVE: Gives us value – His GRACE: Empowers us for service – His SPIRIT: Guides and leads us to his perfect will
WHEN GOD WANTS TO ACCOMPLISH HIS WILL ON EARTH, GOD GIVES BIRTH TO VISION
How to train your spirit?
• Put the word of God first • Meditate on it – Don’t read it, let it read you • Instantly obey the voice of your spirit
Hebrews 4:12
1 John 2:20
GOD is responsible for the consequences of our OBEDIENCE. WE are responsible for the consequences of our DISOBEDIENCE.
PRAY IT OUT
Father, I pray that you open up my heart. Fill me with your love. I pray that you allow me to throw up my hands and let you take control of my life. Let me be obedient to You for you are my guide, my rock, my healer. Father, I pray that you give me the wisdom to allow you to change my life for the better. Let me be obedient to you because you have the path that I am meant to walk already paved. Thank you God for everything that you have done for me, and for what you will continue to do. I pray this all in your name, Amen.
