Name Dropper
Jehovah Jireh
The name of God was so powerful to the ancient Hebrews that they wouldn’t even say it. But through Jesus we’re told, “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13) God’s name brings salvation and strength. A name dropper is someone who uses another person’s name to get access to something they wouldn’t otherwise be able to get. As Christians, we’re invited to use God’s names in our time of need. God is so powerful that He goes by many names: El Shaddai (Almighty), Jehovah Shalom (peace), Jehovah Rapha (Our healer) In this series, we’ll look at the power of calling on God’s many names and attributes to face the challenges of life.

JEHOVAH JIREH – Jehovah WILL SEE (to it) and PROVIDE • Today version of: “I GOT YOU”
George Muller – MY LORD Is Not Limited; He Can AGAIN SUPPY Message Title: JEHOVAH JIREH
Genesis 22:4-5 – The Original Promise 1 Now it came to pass after these things, God tested Abraham. God said, “Abraham!” “Yes?” answered Abraham. “I’m listening.” 2 He said, “Take your dear son Isaac whom you love and go to the land of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains that I’ll point out to you.”
WHEN GOD WANTS TO REVEAL HIS NAME, HE LEADS YOU TO CONTRADICTING PLACES.
Is 1:19 - If you are willing and obedient You shall eat the good of the land.
C.S. LEWIS "There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.”
3-5 Abraham got up early in the morning (so Sarai couldn’t investigate) and saddled his donkey. He took two of his young servants and his son Isaac. He had split wood for the burnt offering. He set out for the place God had directed him. On the third day he looked up and saw the place in the distance. Abraham told his two young servants, “Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I are going over there to worship; then we’ll come back to you."
• YOU CAN STILL WORSHIP & OBEY, EVEN THOUGH YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND.
Hebrews 11:19 Abraham reasoned that if Isaac died, God was able to bring him back to life again. And in a sense, Abraham did receive his son back from the dead.
6 Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and gave it to Isaac his son to carry. He carried the flint and the knife. The two of them went off together. 7 Isaac said to Abraham his father, “Father?” “Yes, my son.” “We have flint and wood, but where’s the sheep for the burnt offering?”
8 Abraham said, “Son, God will see to it that there’s a Lamb for the burnt offering.” And they kept on walking together.
9-10 They arrived at the place to which God had directed him. Abraham built an altar. He laid out the wood. Then he tied up Isaac and laid him on the wood. Abraham reached out and took the knife to kill his son. 11 Just then an angel of GOD called to him out of Heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!” “Yes, I’m listening.” 12 “Don’t lay a hand on that boy! Don’t touch him! Now I know how fearlessly you fear God; you didn’t hesitate to place your son, your dear son, on the altar for me.”
Hebrews 4:15 - This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, because he faced all of the same testing’s we do, yet he did not sin.
John 14:21 Those who truly love me are those who obey my commands. Whoever passionately loves me will be passionately loved by my Father. And I will passionately love you in return and will manifest my life within you.”
SO OFTEN GOD WILL TEST YOUR LOVE FOR HIM BY CALLING FOR YOUR ISAAC.
JOEL: “ugh! more sacrifice? why does God keep asking me to let go/surrender things I want and love. Even stuff he gave me.
Conclusion: He wants to show you that HE IS YOUR FULFILLMENT of what you need, not the things that HE has given you.
LETTING GO OF ISAAC – is not like “letting go of a steering wheel. Like Jesus take the wheel. It’s more like LETTING GO OF YOUR STEERING WILL.”
13 Abraham looked up. He saw a ram caught by its horns in the thicket. Abraham took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 Abraham named that place GOD-Yireh (GOD-Sees-to-It and provides)as it is said to this day, "In the Mount of the LORD it shall be provided."

SECRET TO YOUR PROVISION: • God is WAITING for us to STOP WAVERING
DONT DELAY GODS PROVISION BY WAVERING IN YOUR COMMITTMENT
YOU ARE NOT WAITING ON GOD; GOD IS WAITING ON YOU

HE is Jehovah Shalom. He is the God who helps us make it right, to make it right when we mess up. HE is Jehovah Tsidkenu. He is the God who sees what we need and what we are going through. Genesis 22:4-5
Q1: Have you seen God provide when you had given up? Give an example?
When God wants to reveal HIS name, He leads you to contradicting places.
C.S. Lewis “There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.
Q2: How does knowing that God has your back make you approach your life differently?
You can still worship & obey, even though you don’t understand.
Hebrews 11:19
When you can’t explain what God is doing challenge them to walk with you in your struggle. It is important that they learn to trust in the Lord. Listen, He is challenging you. Isn’t He? So often he will test your love for Him by calling for your Isaac.
Q3: What is your Isaac?
Giving up your Isaac is not like “Jesus take the wheel”, it is more like giving up YOUR steering will to God.
Q4: Have you ever made a decision because it felt right? Was this God directing you?
God wants to show that He is your fulfillment of what you need, not the things He has given you.
Jireh – God sees to it and provides. God’s PreVision leads Him to make provision.
God is waiting for us to stop wavering so don’t delay God’s provision by wavering in your commitment. You are not waiting on God; God is waiting on you.
Read the story of Isaac and contemplate how it foretells the life of Jesus. Wow.
PRAY IT OUT
Remember His name. The Lord that sees to it and provides. Jehovah Jireh
Father, help us to give up our Isaacs. We lift your name, all your names, as the one who sees what we need and provides for us. Help us to go all-in with our Christianity. We know that all we have you have provided for us, but we don’t need those things, we need you. God give us rest and comfort knowing that you have our back. We trust you Lord, we know that giving up our Isaacs will bring us closer to you. We love you God. You know you see what we need, we know that you are walking with us and will provide. You are Jehovah Jireh. Amen.
