Name Dropper
Jehovah Tsidkenu (God Our Righteousness)
The name of God was so powerful to the ancient Hebrews that they wouldn’t even say it. But through Jesus we’re told, “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13) God’s name brings salvation and strength. A name dropper is someone who uses another person’s name to get access to something they wouldn’t otherwise be able to get. As Christians, we’re invited to use God’s names in our time of need. God is so powerful that He goes by many names: El Shaddai (Almighty), Jehovah Shalom (peace), Jehovah Rapha (Our healer) In this series, we’ll look at the power of calling on God’s many names and attributes to face the challenges of life.

Key Point: Healthy people want to get things right.
Romans 7:15-17
I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me.
Isaiah 64:6
All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags...
Jeremiah 23:6
In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior.
Jehovah Tsidkenu: God Our Righteouness
Key Point: Jesus got it right and he gives us the power to do the same.
2 Corinthians 5:17-21
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

SUMMARY – Jehovah Tsidkenu – God is our righteousness.
The Names of God. Sometimes we misunderstand who God is, what he does for us, and what he means to us. God is everything to us and to understand his many names from the bible will help us in our growth as Christians, our relationships, and our battles against the enemy. He is our provider, our shelter, our strength, our healer, our father, our builder and many more. HE is our banner. HE is Jehovah Nissi. He provides us with our provisions, takes care of our needs, and nourishes us both physically and spiritually. HE is Al Shaddai. He is present in everything we do, everything we think, and in every situation we encounter. HE is YHWH. (Yahweh). He is the one who calms us, gives us rest, and recharges our soul. HE is Jehovah Shalom. He is the God who helps us make it right, to make it right when we mess up. HE is Jehovah Tsidkenu.
Q1: What does righteousness mean to you?
We all mess up, make mistakes, treat someone how we shouldn’t. We strive to do the right thing. We have responsibilities and desire to be the best we can be at all we do. Often, we turn to God and proclaim, “I just want to get this right”. The question is never really the question.
Q2: Have you ever turned to God and had a conversation with Him about how to get something right? Think of being a parent. Can you think of something more important to get right?
God does not give us sickness, but He allows it. He allows it to work within us, and how we work to “get it right” proves if we are Healthy or not. How we see and allow the Spirit to work within us during sickness shows our health as a Christian.
Q3: Have you ever tried to get it right on your own? How did that turn out?
Romans 7:15-17
Salvation is a process.
When you accept Christ into your heart, you experience recognition. You then go through Justification, where your sins are forgiven through what Jesus did for you. You then go through the process of Sanctification, being freed from sin. This process of driving out sin and being purified never ends.
Isaiah 64:6
Jeremiah 23:6
We often think that if we just try harder….
Only trying harder to strengthen our relationship with Christ can we achieve the “make it right” that we desire. We have the same power in us that Christ used to drive out demons, to turn water into wine, and to heal the afflicted. We can do it, through Jesus. Think of our power as a floppy glove. It can’t do much of anything. If we allow that same glove to be filled with the Holy Spirit, it can be used for almost anything. Let God in, let him fill the glove.
2 Corinthians 5:17-21
God is our diplomatic plate. With him we are sanctified and justified. This is not a free pass to sin; it is a placard to hold us to a higher standard. When we proclaim that we are followers of Christ we need to act like followers of Christ.
Q4: As a church member, have you ever found yourself representing Christ in a way that is very much not like Christ?
PRAY IT OUT
Remember His name. The Lord of our Righteousness. Jehovah Tsidkenu
Father, help us to make it right, get it right, feel right. We lift your name, all your names, as the one who holds us to a higher standard. You are our righteousness. Please fill us up with your Spirit and Power so we can accomplish those things You have set before us. Help us to make things right by recognizing your presence within our trials and sicknesses. We know we can’t do this alone and need you, need your strength, and need your presence in all that we do. You are the one who makes it right, you are the one who gives us salvation, justification, and sanctification. You are our righteousness. You are Jehovah Tsidkenu. Amen.
