Name Dropper
Jesus
The name of God was so powerful to the ancient Hebrews that they wouldn’t even say it. But through Jesus we’re told, “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13) God’s name brings salvation and strength. A name dropper is someone who uses another person’s name to get access to something they wouldn’t otherwise be able to get. As Christians, we’re invited to use God’s names in our time of need. God is so powerful that He goes by many names: El Shaddai (Almighty), Jehovah Shalom (peace), Jehovah Rapha (Our healer) In this series, we’ll look at the power of calling on God’s many names and attributes to face the challenges of life.

QUESTION HAS JESUS BECOME YOUR SALVATION?
Matthew 1:21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins."
IS. 44:22 Remember these things: I’ll never forget you. I’ve wiped the slate of all your wrongdoings. There’s nothing left of your sins. Come back to me, come back. I’ve redeemed you.”
Philippians 2:9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name, which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
J = JUST
"Corrie, when you and I go to Amsterdam, when do I give you your ticket?" "Why, just before we get on the train," she replied.
"Exactly," her father said, "and our wise Father in heaven knows when we're going to need things too. Don't run out ahead of Him, Corrie. When the time comes that some of us will have to die, you will look into your heart and find the strength you need; just in time."
E – ENOUGH
ACTS 4:12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
John 14:8 - “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us”
“Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father”
John 4:13 Jesus answered and said to her, "Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life."
S – STRENGTH
Psalms 28:7 7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart leaps for joy, and with my song I give thanks to him.
JOSHUA 14:10 And now, behold, the LORD has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, ever since the LORD spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old. As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in. Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the LORD spoke in that day;
U – UNCHANGING
Hebrews 13:8 - Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Romans 5:6-8 6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— 8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
S - SAVIOR
John 8:12 - “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Sermon Notes. April 28, 2024
I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
SUMMARY
JESUS, the name above all names. From the Hebrew, Yeshua (Salvation), “God has become my salvation” Broken down further in Hebrew it comes from the word Yasha, to be liberated, saved, delivered. To give victory to.
Proverbs 18:10
“Who do you run to?” when… It is important to pay attention to those moments when you need victory. Do you turn to Jesus, or to google?
Jesus gives us access to all the other names, or character traits of, God. All we must do is enter the code. The code is our acceptance of Christ and turning to him.
Mathhew 1:21
Isaiah 44:22
Philippians 2:9
Jesus knows each of us. He knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows our innermost desires, thoughts, and feelings. Each of us was made differently and have had different experiences. Who Jesus is at this moment is different, based on what we need Him to be, and He is what we need at any given time.
Q1: Who is Jesus right now in your walk? Who is He to you?
The Holy Spirit flows to us much like a water pipe that flows into our homes. Sometimes, as in those water pipes, there is a clog that stops the flow or hinders its flow. Water pipes could hold a lump of hair, and our walk with Christ could be interrupted with anger, a hidden sin, despair, or fear, among others.
Q2: What inside of you is clogging your flow?
What you do and who you are, are two entirely different things. – This might be the most hopeful and beautiful thing I have ever heard. Sometimes we think what we do defines us, but Jesus knows who we really are. As a Christian we should try hard to help bring out in people who they are in the eyes of Jesus, that includes ourselves.
Q3: Have you ever let what you have done change your perspective of who you are? Answered honestly, we all have. Guess what though? Jesus never has.
Acronym: an abbreviation formed from the initial letters of other words and pronounced as a word.
Pastor Marcus has an acronym for Jesus:
J - Just. Just on time. Jesus always provides what we need, exactly when we need it.
E - Enough. Acts 4:12 Jesus is enough, He is everything we need.
S - Strength. Psalms 28:7 He is our strength. He gives us the strength we need.
U - Unchanging. Hebrews 13:8 God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
S - SAVIOR. Jesus is our Savior. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
Please create a vision board with your own acronym of Jesus. What he is to each of us at this time in our life will be different, and the same, for He is everything. It is us that change.
PRAY IT OUT
We sing songs proclaiming it and believe it with all souls. The name above all names. The Holy name of Jesus.
Father, you are the name above all. Please help us to tattoo that name on our soul. Help us to know that through Your name we can access the Father and all that He is. When we need victory, we call on you. When we need healing, we call on you. When we are fearful, anxious, or sad, we call on you. Jesus, we raise up your name and praise and worship you because you deserve it. You give us mercy and grace even though we don’t. You are our salvation, our guardian, and our purpose. You are the name above all. You are Jesus, and we love you. Amen.
